Abba
Dabba Do
This hosta is a sport of sun power. The leaves start out, as all green and
quickly develop a bright yellow edge offering a wonderful contrast to the
green. Flowers are lavender. Clumps can grow to 30 inches high and spread
to 4 ft.
Blue
Cadet
This plant makes a low growing dense mound of rounded blue-green leaves with
good substance. The hosta is small with an overall measurement of 8 inches
high by 24 inches wide. Leaves are smooth and spade shaped. This plant multiplies
rapidly-flowers are lavender.
Edge
of Night
Edge of Night is a very dark green variety when grown in shade. Leaves are
large and heart shaped with the dark green color as near black as we have
grown. Edge of Night will contrast well with a variegated variety. Plants
may grow to 30 inches and spread to 3 feet.
Francee
Francee has dark green leaves with a striking, clean and white leaf margin.
These plants are very showy and grow to 24 inches tall with a 30 inch spread.
The white against the dark green of the leaf center gives a very nice eye
catching contrast.
Frosted
Jade
Frosted Jade is a hosta that stands erect and has large 12 inch long by 9
inch wide leaves. The leaves are heart shaped and veined. The plant is a dark
jade green with bright white regularly narrow margins. Overlapping of the
two colors creates a third muted color of gray-green.
Golden
Tiara
Golden Tiara is a small hosta with small heart shaped light green leaves with
a gold edge. These plants form a compact mound about 10 inches high by 12
inches wide. This is a rapid grower, and we do mean “rapid”! Golden
Tiara is a great front edge or border plant in the hosta garden.
Green
Tiara
Green Tiara is the reverse of golden tiara. The leaves are small and heart
shaped. Leaf color is gold in the center with green margins. These plants
are small and form a compact mound about 10 inches high by 12 inches wide.
This is a slower grower than the golden tiara. Green Tiara makes a good front
edge border in the hosta garden.
Great
Expectations
These plants have large puckered leaves with irregular blue-green margins
and creamy centers. Plants grow to 22 inches tall and spread to 30 inches
wide. Great Expectations produces nice white blossoms in mid-summer.
Halcyon
Halcyon is a good blue hosta that holds up well late into the season. Leaves
are heart shaped and heavily ribbed. It is a medium sized plant growing to
around 15 to 20 in height and with a spread of 30 inches. Color is best in
shade. Flowers are pale lavender.
Hoosier
Harmony
Hoosier Harmony has a light green to gold leaf center with a green margin.
The plant is medium in size. Flowers are white and one of the few hostas that
is fragrant.
June
A mature June will grow to 12 to 15 inches tall and 30 inches wide. The leaves
are variegated gold with a ½ inch band of blue-green. Blooms are pale
lavender in mid-summer. June holds its color later than many of the other
varieties—often holding until the first killing frost.
Krossa
Regal
This grows to a large size plant that can be a corner stone in the garden.
A clump, of Krossa Regal can grow to an impressive 3 ft. tall by 6 ft. wide.
Leaves are a frosty blue-green and grows with an upright vase-shaped habit.
The scapes are 5 ft high with orchid colored flowers.
Lancifolia
Lancifolia has long lance shaped leaves. The plant grows to about 15 inches
to 18 inches tall and spreads to around 20 inches. This plant is one of the
earliest to emerge in the spring and grows quickly. This is a good variety
to use as a separator between other hostas or as a background for smaller
hostas. Flowers are lavender.
Old
Green
Old Green is an older green variety that was found in our yard when we moved
to Massachusetts in 1978. It has a bright green leaf and grows to 30 inches
high with a 24 inch spread. It is a great back-ground plant for the hosta
garden, providing height and contrast for smaller variegated specimens. Flowers
are lilac in color. Blooms appear during mid-summer. Foliage holds up well
for the season. Shipped with a minimum of 3 eyes.
Old
Variegated
This is an older variety found in our Massachusetts yard when we moved to
the place during 1978. It has a light green leaf with a white variegated center.
These plants grow to 8 inches high with a 10 inch spread. We use these plants
as a border to make a nice contrast with larger hosta varieties. Shipped with
a minimum of 3 eyes.
Patomic
Pride
Patomic Pride is a large hosta with large heart shaped leaves. Foliage is
dark blue green with prominent veins. Flowers are lavender in color.
Patriot
Patriot has a Dark green center and a striking 1-inch white margin. Flowers
are lilac colored and blooms in early summer. Plants grow from 15 to 22 inches
tall.
River
Bluff Green
Large, dark bluish green hosta, a reversion of Paul's Glory. Large,
about 24-30 inches tall, mature plants will spread to approximnately 36 inches.
Robert
Frost
Robert Frost has a rounded light blue green leaf with a wide light yellow
margin. The light yellow margins turn creamy white during summer. The light
color shade of Robert Frost contrasts well with other darker colored hostas.
This plant is one of the larger varieties, and is truly a hosta that stands
out!
Sagae
This large hosta can grow to 3 ft. tall and spread to an incredible 4 ft.
and larger width. The leaves are variegated with a frosty gray-green base
and bordered by irregular creamy-green margins. Lavender flowers appear during
mid-season on 40-inch scapes.
Striptease
Striptease is a medium size plant. The leaves are creamy white in the center
with a wide bright green margin. These plants often have a white line between
the center and the margin. The plant emerges in the spring with a small cream
stripe in the center, however, as the season progresses, the cream center
becomes much larger.
Sum
& Substance
Sum & Substance is a huge hosta, a mature plant, growing from 2.5 ft.
to 3 ft. tall and spreading to 3 ft. wide. The leaves are a beautiful chartreuse-green.
This is a very popular hosta and a “must have” for the beginning
hosta garden.
Summer
Music
Summer Music has a bold, wide white center leaf. Leaf edges are chartreuse-green.
Plants grow to 15 inches tall and spread to 24 inches wide. This variety grows
well in partial to full shade.
Sunpower
Sunpower is a vase shaped plant with long, bright yellow leaves. The leaves
are sharply pointed, slightly twisted and with undulating margins. Plants
grow to a medium size and hold up well for the season.
Veronica
Lake
Veronica Lake is a small plant growing to about 12 inches high with a 20 inch
spread. The leaves are blue green with creamy white margins. The plant is
dense and compact with lavender flowers. Foliage holds up well for the season.
